About The Northeast Corridor-New Jersey
Model Railroad
Welcome to the Northeast Corridor-New Jersey Model Railroad, featuring Amtrak, New Jersey Transit, and Conrail model trains! This HO scale model railroad was founded in June 2006 by Jason Smith and is strongly supported by his wife, Stefanie, and his son James. If not for their kind hearts, love, and endless support, the layout would not exist today.
Because of the railroad's physical resources (i.e. space) have not been identified yet, Stefanie is active duty Navy and stationed in Guam at the moment. The railroad's primary focus has been on operating passenger and freight trains as prototypically as possible (using employee timetables, schedules and NORAC Operating rules.), acquiring motive power and rolling stock, and drafting plans for its operation based layout that will be constructed in the future.
As the web site's name implies, the layout will consist of Amtrak and NJ Transit trains that can be found in the Northeast Corridor in New Jersey. Conrail will also be represented with numerous yards and industries that are located on Amtrak's NEC. In keeping with the tradition of striving for prototypical operations, the NEC-NJ Model Railroad operates it passenger and freight trains according to their prototype schedules using prototypical consists.
Even though the layout is still in the research/planning stage! Thanks for stopping by!
